Throughout history we've been more than once a part of the Netherlands and I guess we Belgian/Dutch people have this love/hate affair with each other.

Basically we speak the same language, but we're also very different. On the other side, there are a lot of Dutch people living in Belgium, coming over to Antwerp (in the weekend it's practically a Dutch colony LOL, but the same goes for Belgians and Breda).

Like I said, a love-hate affair. Have to admit that it took me till last summer to really start to like the Netherlands, even if they are our neighbours. Always have been more of a French minded girl.

Great blog btw!

Love from Belgium,

CindyLa Maman Heureusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05469247025200911213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7632116593267175213.post-78625970440042909622012-03-18T20:38:21.337+01:002012-03-18T20:38:21.337+01:00I'm a new reader - in fact this is the very fi...I'm a new reader - in fact this is the very first post of yours I've read. It made my day to see you visited Ireland and especially Cork - I grew up there and miss it everyday!Eadaoinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16836721366804712770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7632116593267175213.post-77733558540124843512012-03-16T16:29:35.953+01:002012-03-16T16:29:35.953+01:00That is so cool!!That is so cool!!Sugethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03541947362351664338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7632116593267175213.post-5797278177901346492012-03-16T11:01:47.791+01:002012-03-16T11:01:47.791+01:00Very cool direct family history! Since we've moved to England I've had English friends ask me why Americans are so hung up on claiming their ancestry, and why we hyphenate our nationality. They say if you're born in England, you're English, born in Scotland, you're Scottish, etc- doesn't matter if your family is from another U.K. country or from Europe (don't get me started on the whole U.K. not being part of Europe thing!). I've found it somewhat refreshing to say "I'm American" because my ancestry is a total hodgepodge of European descent. Great pictures, too- I loved Tipperary!Gescihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09543798912886827648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7632116593267175213.post-31912564244657045502012-03-16T08:11:53.023+01:002012-03-16T08:11:53.023+01:00WOW! What a crazy coincidence... or perhaps not a coincidence at all! ;)

Your family lived in Castles? - That is just insane.

I know I also have some Irish blood in me, but I think the bulk of our family is English, which is where the last name Finch comes from.

xxx
Jenna
ps Can't believe you guys are headed to Jordan so soon... you're going to can a blast!Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07238434752028472905noreply@blogger.com
