It was great to see Reykjavik and party with the Icelanders until the wee morning hours, but the best thing about Iceland is the nature--hands-down. We made so many stops on the side of the road to photograph rivers, horses and landscapes. And the scenery in Iceland changes dramatically even just 20 km away!
Denis, Emma and Christian really took over with planning the Iceland itinerary. So much so that I really had no idea where we were going or what we would see at all. I'll always be grateful for Denis for recommending that we visit Mljet on our trip to Croatia last year--I'm pretty sure it's the most beautiful place I've ever seen!
Well Denis and Emma to the rescue again...my favorite few days in Iceland were spent on the Eastern Fjords on the east coast of Iceland. Emma found us some cottages right on the water, with a magnificent fjord view, a boat turned into a jacuzzi and little baby lambs running around the property :). Emma and I even got to feed them!
This cottage was the perfect spot for us to daytrip around the fjords, drive through snowy mountain passes and visit tiny towns at the root of huge waterfall-covered fjords. And ofcourse, who would be opposed to the fact that there was a jacuzzi boat and baby lambs waiting for you at home? ;)
